Grades

Academic excellence is a key pillar shared by the sororities and fraternities recognized by the University of Maryland. All of our chapters have minimum GPA standards for their new and initiated members, and the university requires a 2.5 GPA and 12 credit hours to join a sorority or fraternity.

Each semester, the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life prepares an Academic Standing Report to emphasize the importance of academic excellence within our community. You can access the most recent Academic Standing Reports below.

For Chapters Interested in Individual Member Grades:

Chapters seeking to obtain a report of individual member grades must adhere to the following process to ensure compliance with university policies and students' privacy.

  1. Grade Release Forms: All chapter members must submit a Grade Release Form before the request. The department must have these forms on file to proceed with generating the report.
  2. Submission of Request: A chapter representative must submit a request for the chapter grade report. The Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life (DFSL) will only distribute grade reports for the most recent semester. Reports for previous semesters will not be provided.
  3. Confidentiality and Compliance: All grade reports are confidential and must be handled in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations. Chapters are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the information provided in these reports. Please note that  DFSL is committed to supporting the academic success of its fraternity and sorority members. These guidelines are in place to uphold the privacy and academic integrity of all students.
