I carry a lot of responsibility with me, especially in the way I organize and prioritize. I think carefully about how my actions impact the people around me, and I always aim to leave something better than how I received it. As a result, I am always selective with everything I do, and I feel as though I lack the freedom to be able to stray from my path. My organization defines me in ways that I can’t explain, and I find myself lacking in other aspects just to be a product of what this identity has made me.When I joined my sorority, I didn’t expect to find myself in a group of people that related with me, were willing to support me, and stayed by my side when I defined myself in a box. I am happy to not only be around people with similar experiences, but also people who pull me out of my comfort zone, pushing me to do things I never thought I could do. I’m forever grateful to have them by my side, and I am proud to call myself something that, before, had held me back from a lot of things. I learned that being in a sorority means surrounding yourself with people who can turn your perceived weaknesses into strengths.
