MGC Intake & Recruitment

The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) at the University of Maryland does not coordinate a council-wide or collaborative recruitment process. Instead, each MGC organization leads its own unique intake or recruitment process that reflects its values, traditions, and national guidelines. These processes are open to students of all cultures, backgrounds, and identities who are interested in joining a community grounded in cultural pride, academic excellence, leadership, and service.

MGC chapters typically recruit throughout the academic year, and each organization may have different timelines, eligibility requirements, and membership education programs. Some organizations may require discretion during their intake or new member education processes, in accordance with their national policies and cultural traditions. Because of this, prospective members should explore the individual organizations and learn about what makes each one distinct.

To support this, the MGC and its chapters host a variety of programs, information sessions, and cultural events during the fall and spring semesters. These events offer a chance to meet members, ask questions, and learn more about each chapter's mission and history.

If you're interested in joining an MGC organization:

  • Attend MGC-sponsored events and chapter programs
  • Reach out to individual organizations to express your interest
  • Learn about chapter-specific requirements and timelines
  • Reflect on your own values, goals, and how they align with the organizations you’re exploring

You can express interest in joining an MGC chapter through the MGC Interest Form.
