IFC Recruitment
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) at the University of Maryland facilitates the recruitment process for the university’s IFC fraternities. Recruitment is an opportunity for interested students to explore the values, traditions, and brotherhood that define the IFC community. With over 20 chapters, each offering a unique experience, students are encouraged to learn more about the organizations that align with their values and goals.
IFC recruitment is a mutual selection process, meaning both potential new members and chapters get to know one another and determine the best fit. Recruitment takes place during both the fall and spring semesters, with a more formal recruitment process typically occurring at the start of each semester. Chapters may also offer informal recruitment opportunities throughout the academic year. Each organization creates its own recruitment schedule and typically publishes its recruitment schedule on its social media pages.
To participate in IFC recruitment, students must:
- Be enrolled at the University of Maryland
- Have 12 credit hours and 2.5 GPA
- Register for IFC Recruitment on Campus Director
- Attend required orientation and risk prevention sessions
Throughout recruitment, potential new members have the chance to attend meet-and-greets, chapter events, and open houses. These experiences help students learn about each fraternity’s values, philanthropic efforts, leadership opportunities, and brotherhood culture.
Whether you're looking to develop lifelong friendships, grow as a leader, or make an impact through service and scholarship, the IFC community offers a wide range of opportunities to support your journey.
